UPDATED 20 MARCH 2020

SEATRADE CRUISE GLOBAL POSTPONEMENT UPDATE

Last Friday we communicated the postponement of Seatrade Cruise Global 2020, originally scheduled to take place this April in Miami Beach, and announced that we are looking into alternative options that will enable the cruising community to meet and do business in a safe and effective way.

We also told you we would be keeping you updated as we get more information, which is why we are writing to you today. Over the last week we have had hundreds of conversations with our customers, with members of different cruise lines, and with our partners and associations to get an understanding of what your needs are, and how this virus is currently impacting your business.

After these conversations, we have come to understand that an event in August, the only time we had managed to reserve a suitable amount of space to hold our event, would not be the industry event that you need us to deliver – for some, the timing was wrong, for others, the variables related to COVID-19 led to more unknowns. As the global cruising industry’s platform to network, learn, and do business, we want you to know that your needs are what guides us most and, therefore, we are continuing to develop alternative solutions that deliver networking, sourcing and educational opportunities.

While we develop these solutions and opportunities for you with our strategic partners, we can confirm that we continue to organize our September Cruise Med event.

16-17 September 2020 – Seatrade Cruise Med, Malaga, Spain

Seatrade Cruise Med will provide an expanded tradeshow floor and conference program to accommodate cruise line professionals across the entire cruise industry, including a new, dedicated area for the Expedition market.

Exhibitors Please Note: Any contract fees from April 2020 can be rolled over to this event, or Seatrade Cruise Global in 2021. Your Account Manager will be following up with you individually next week to discuss the option that best fits your needs.

Attendees Please Note: Any registration fees from April 2020 can be rolled over to Seatrade Cruise Global in 2021. More information on how to do this, or how to claim your ticket refund, will be sent soon.

We will be sharing another update next week as we get additional options and information for you. We thank you for your continued support as we navigate these uncharted territories, and sincerely hope to connect with you in Malaga this September.

SEATRADE CRUISE GLOBAL OFFICIALLY POSTPONED

As previously communicated, we have continuously reviewed the situation with regards to Seatrade Cruise Global in April 2020. Up until recently, the majority of industry feedback indicated that we should try to continue with the event as scheduled if possible. It’s clear now, however, that this is not possible due to the numerous globally imposed travel bans and the latest restrictions related to running events within Miami-Dade county, as well as the latest feedback we have received from many of you. We therefore confirm that Seatrade Cruise Global 2020 has been postponed and that we are working with our association partners and you, our customers on alternative options.

You can expect more information from the Seatrade Cruise Global team in the coming week to discuss your full range of options and address any questions you might have. We continue to work diligently to ensure all details are confirmed for our exhibitors, delegates and sponsors – we thank you for your continued support and patience with us through these challenging weeks.

These are unprecedented times as we look to reinvent and reposition our events to adapt accordingly, while still bringing you the dedicated platforms for meetings, collaboration and business generation. We will issue more details shortly as we firm up more information, however at this time there are two logistical areas we would like to mention:

  1.  If you’ve already shipped booth materials or placed orders, we are working with Freeman and the Miami Beach Convention Center on next steps, and will communicate those in the coming days. If you have not yet shipped your booth materials, you should avoid doing so at this time.
  2. Those who have booked hotel rooms in our block will receive information in the coming days about rescheduled dates and the process to cancel your existing room or make reservations for potential new dates.

As always, we look forward to continuing to work with you as our partners, customers and industry colleagues on Seatrade Cruise events taking place in the second half of 2020, including Seatrade Cruise Med (16-17 September | Malaga, Spain), and we appreciate your patience as we finalise new dates for Seatrade Cruise Global.

We have also received some clear concerns regarding travel, safety and wellbeing. Again, we thank those who have made their positions clear on this.

At Seatrade Cruise, the safety and welfare of our customers, guests and staff is always our greatest priority. While we have communicated our intention to continue with the event as planned over the last few weeks, we feel it is time to consider putting elevated health and safety protocols in place.

27 FEBRUARY 2020

At this time, no federal restrictions are in place to prevent meetings and travel in the United States.

As of now, the Meetings Mean Business Coalition (MMBC) encourages continued participation in meetings in the U.S.

There have been no cases of COVID-19 identified in Florida. There is currently no confirmed evidence of community-based person to person transmission in the US.

The Florida Department of Health is actively involved in enhanced surveillance for respiratory illness that may be COVID-19. Epidemiologists will follow up on any suspected cases of COVID-19 to arrange for testing when needed and monitor contacts of any confirmed cases, if they occur.

With the situation evolving rapidly, we urge participants and vendors to consult the latest guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and local public health authorities as you prepare for Seatrade Cruise Global 2020.

For our part, we will continue to engage health and security authorities on any planned or anticipated measures that may impact travel.

We understand the months – even years – of work that precede a major meeting or event. We also recognize the incredible benefits that these gatherings bring to people, businesses and the economy – especially in cities that rely on travel to sustain themselves. Our hope is that this situation resolves quickly, travelers exercise healthy travel habits and some reassurance is granted to those hosting and attending meetings during this time.
