We are constantly learning, developing and creating more ways to become a "planet-forward" event. Our main focuses are waste, energy/carbon, water, procurement/materials and travel.

The Fort Lauderdale Broward County Convention Center is certified LEED Gold. Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) is the most popular green building certification program used worldwide. Developed by the non-profit U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), it includes a set of rating systems for the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of green buildings, homes, and neighborhoods that aims to help building owners be environmentally responsible and use resources efficiently. 

  • Removing single-use plastics throughout the show
  • Having refillable water stations and fountains throughout the event and venue
  • All feature areas of the show floor built by Seatrade Cruise are reusable and structurally waste-free
  • Better Stands - an initiative encouraging, rating and rewarding exhibitors who reuse and recycle stand materials
  • The BCCC has recently added single-stream compactors that allow back-of-house waste sorting during the show to maximise waste diverted from the landfill and ensure materials are sent to the correct stream
  • The BBCC also have cardboard and Visqueen baler to collect and recycle all cardboard 
  • The event is run on 100% renewable energy
  • Lighting and AC levels are set to 50% during move-in/move-out
  • All lighting at the BCCC is LED, which is powered by the new high-efficiency, automated Central Energy Plant (CEP)
  • The BCCC has installed new variable drive escalators which reduce speed during non-use hours, saving energy and motor life by 70% 
  • Replacing single-use plastic drinking vessels throughout the show with aluminium cans and bottles
  • Having refillable water stations and fountains throughout the event and venue
  • Encouraging attendees to participate in the hotels’ linen reuse programmes
  • The BCCC uses reclaimed condensate water which goes directly back into the cooling towers, saving 30,000 gallons of water per month
  • The BCCC has low-volume plumbing fixtures in all areas that decrease water consumption as well as automatic water facets to reduce water waste 
  • Replacing single-use plastics throughout the show with bamboo cutlery
  • Inclusive food options including healthy, vegetarian and vegan dishes featuring locally sourced ingredients
  • Any leftover food will be donated to a local food bank 
  • Organic waste is disposed of in Eco-Safe Kitchen Digestors
  • Signage volume has been reduced, and any new signage is printed on 100% recyclable materials. No inks with volatile organic compounds are used
  • All feature areas of the show floor built by Seatrade Cruise are reusable and structurally waste-free
  • The lanyards and show bags are made from 100% recycled materials
  • Aisle carpeting is made from 50% post-industrial recycled content
  • Show Mobile App will provide all attendees with all show information
  • Allow all attendees the option to offset their travel during the registration process
  • All staff travel to/from the event if offset to be carbon neutral travel 
  • Providing free of charge shuttle buses between all official hotels and the BCCC reducing the need for single/small group taxi journeys
  •  A discount on the Brightline to reduce the need for car/taxi journeys
