2019 State of the Global Cruise Industry Keynote

Sponsored by the Hong Kong Tourism Board

As cutting-edge ships make their maiden voyages and disruptive new brands enter the market, the most anticipated part of Seatrade Cruise Global rose to the occasion — bigger and bolder than ever!
In partnership with CLIA and FCCA, we're proud to announce a record-breaking attendance of over 2,000 for the State of the Global Cruise Industry Keynote.
Moderating the morning was BBC World News' Lucy Hockings, a seasoned broadcast journalist with experience covering the most significant global events.
This year, Adam Goldstein (Vice Chairman of Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd & Cruise Lines International Association) kicked it off via a conversation with the UN World Tourism Organization's Secretary General Zurab Pololikashvili, followed by a panel discussion with the four leaders of the world's largest cruise lines.
The conversations highlighted both the myriad opportunities and encroaching challenges that accompany such meteoric industry growth.

Our industry titans shared their perspectives in a dynamic panel discussion focusing on the most exciting upcoming opportunities and the challenges keeping them up at night.

Themes included:

  • Sustainable Tourism – The latest challenges in popular markets, how cruise lines are collaborating with local communities and destinations to identify solutions
  • Innovation – Defining what innovation means to their brand and customer
  • Converting New Cruisers - What it will take to attract the next generation of cruisers including millennials
  • Environmental Initiatives – Identifying the latest developments and success stories to continue environmental advancements
  • Emerging Markets – The future outlook on China, what it will take to succeed in emerging markets
