Technology's Not Just Enhancing The Guest's Experience... But Your Crew's Too

Technology is an important part of any cruise experience. SpecTec gives us all of the need-to-know info on how important technology is for not only for your guests, but your crew as well.

In what ways does technology enhance the guest experience?

With ever increasing competition within the cruise market, technology is quickly becoming a key differentiator in enhancing the guest experience. From automated check-in to wearables, interconnected technology touches and enhances everyday life on-board for the guests. AI Technology exists to learn and connect each individual guest with appropriate information, ensuring a highly tailored and personalized experience.

With the ever-progressing technological landscape, how are technology companies ensuring that cruise lines operate in the most safe, sustainable and reliable manner?

With well over a 100 cruise ships on the order books over the next 10 years the pressure is now on cruise organizations more than ever to maintain the highest operational standards. Technologies like AMOS ensure global fleet performance data can be analysed and ensure critical vessel assets are performing in the most efficient manner. Global analytics also applies to safety management, by providing valuable insights into lessons learnt to avoid issues before they happen. This approach ensures cruise lines are continually developing their operational standards to ensure the safety of both crew and guests.

What technology trends do you see creating the most change in the cruise industry in the next three to five years?

Guests onboard are expecting more personalized experiences and as the demographics evolve technology trends such as wearables NFC’s, mobile apps/tablets and even virtual reality play a big part.  MTM - Machine to machine integration (artificial intelligence), IOE – Internet of Everything, are being developed to integrate and utilize these technology data sets to enrich guest experience.  Furthermore from a cruise operator prospective this will bring better vessel digitalization to enable more efficient asset management, whether this be  related to risk, maintenance, inventory or supply chain management.

SpecTec is all about asset management software, managing core processes such as maintenance, inventory and supply chain management.  How do you see technology evolving to better support crew on-board and improve their daily working lives

SpecTec are well aligned to the evolving technological demands of crew on-board and are focused on delivering technologies that can improve their daily working lives. Whether at sea or in port, we now give them the access they need using any device, anytime, anywhere.  Role-based mobile technologies help the crew to deliver huge time efficiencies and improved reporting accuracy.
